Actress natalia worner (52) launches new initiative to combat domestic violence.
"Unfortunately, it’s still a taboo subject, every third woman is affected by domestic violence. And no one talks about it with any complacency," she told the german press agency in berlin. "The fear and shame are too rough."
Together with others, she launched the #sicherheim campaign. Posters and a TV commercial aim to raise awareness of problems at home. In addition, donations are to be collected and distributed to relief agencies.
Prominent ambassadors have been recruited, such as the actor jan josef liefers, the athlete kristina vogel and the designer guido maria kretschmer. The initiators include the production company UFA and the bertelsmann content alliance.
"Domestic violence is an issue that was under-reported even before corona and now just needs – in my opinion – a very different form of attention," worner said. "We must find a language and thus give the necessary space to encourage all the women who urgently need help. Because behind fear sits shame. And shame is probably one of the deepest feelings we have as human beings."
